I need help talking to my doctor about my Ambien perscription.?
I need to talk to him about my Ambien prescription, I had been going to a previous doctor and was prescribed a variety of sleepaids over a period of time, trying to determine which ones worked the best.
Our Results:
Tradazone 50mg doses as needed- Completely ineffective
Ambien (Zolpidem Tartrate) 10mg doses as needed- Worked in the beginning
The main problem is that they don't work that well anymore, i might have developed a tolerance, but my theory is that because Ambien and other hypnotics are treatments for temporary insomnia (4-6 weeks), and I have Chronic Insomnia and need a better long term treatment.
Does anyone know a drug that is more effective or faster acting than Ambien 10mg? Does Ambien come in a higher dosage.

I have highly severe insomnia...i've tried every med that they make...what do i do?
iwas diiagnosed with chronic insomnia at the age of 13. iwason remeron fora while, but then it stopped working around age 17. so they tried me on rozerem and they didnt work.i talked to my doctors and got off of all my meds for about a year and some odd months, till i felt like i needed to be back on then.because my insomnia came back with a vengance. since i was about 18n a couple months old and my chronic still at 24. i have tried lunesta, ambien, ,trazidone, thorazine, restoril, seroquel, melatonin, doxepin, valerian root, OTC Diphohydromine, and non of them worked. i feel like i dont respond to treatment. i work on deep dephormatic breathing, only associate my bed with sleep and sex. i limit my caffien intake after a certiam time of day. i try to go to bed at the same time of the night. i have pretty good sleep hygene.my dr. and i are at our wits end becausei have tried almost every drug they make for insomnia. my dr. doesnt know what to put me on because ive basically tried them all. are u think there are any meds we may have looked over. please help me, i'm atmy wits end here. thank you for ur time.

Does anyone have a happily ever after story with their bipolar parent?
My mother was diagnosed as bipolar about 5 years ago, after I had been out of her home several years. Previous diagnoses include depression, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, hypothyroidism, chronic insomnia, sleep apnea & hypoglycemia. She has visited half a dozen doctors to get these diagnoses. She continually cycles through taking medicine from 1 doctor as prescribed, to taking medicine from several docs who do not know she is doctor shopping, to all-herbal(and I mean like, 20 - 30 different supplements a day), to no medicine.
With each new diagnosis/treatment, she seems to believe that she has turned a corner. If I try to talk to her about behaviors that seem harmful, she becomes too tearful and sleepy to talk. Recently, she has done some very hurtful things. I'm beyond trying to confront her about it.
Does anyone have a similar situation that turned out well? I keep hoping for the best, but her behavior gets more erratic and hurtful as time goes by.

Anyone here suffering / have suffered from chronic Lyme? What has worked for you? Have you had trouble finding treatment?
Myself, I was misdiagnosed for seven years with asthma, then they decided that it was all in my head. I had a constant upper respiratory infection, chronic insomnia, fatigue, arthritis in my hands, and headaches. Not to mention depression and anxiety. I finally recieved treatment from a Lyme specialist, and now, after eight years and a lot of switching medications, my symptoms have died down to a tolerable level.

Can anyone recommend an effective treatment for psychosomatic insomnia?
I have Chronic fatigue syndrome and I have had a problem with sleeping but as I get only one day out I worry the night before that I wont sleep. The panic and worry that I wont and have to call the day off means that its a vicious circle. I have been on tablets but I want off them. Hypnosis is a step forward as I can get to sleep but dont keep asleep. I have tried lavender, routine, no tea, melatonin all have little effect and not reliable. Does anyone have any recommendations of alternative therapies thought field therapy etc. I would be grateful for any recommendations as it is affecting the only part of life I have left.

Chronic insomnia during summer!?
Hello everyone. From the past 3 years I have noticed I develop chromic insomnia during the summer season. This starts in Feb and usually lasts till June until it starts raining here. It's so chronic that sometimes in a period of 48 to 72 hours I just sleep for hardly 5 hours! Last year I had to go to a psychiatrist because I wasn't able to sleep for a second for over 48 hours! The doc prescribed Librium (Chlordiazepoxide) for 10 days and then kept me on Olanzapine 5 mg and Prozac 20 mg for 3 hours.. But his diagnosis was that I was suffering from depression. But now I am starting to believe this is not depression and it's something else. Is anyone aware of any such disorders and also what kind of treatment would be appropriate? Hypnotic or non hypnotic medicines? Assuming I have to live with this problem for life, I don't think hypnotics will be an option

I am 24 and I don’t have any underlying condition. I would say I am very much healthy.
I am not on any medicines at the moment. I finished my antidepressant course in December.
